Singing Holidays and Retreats was established in 2009 with the first UK singing retreat in 2010. A year later, Barbados singing holidays was created and both have been running ever since gaining in popularity with a huge percentage of returnees.
Since then they have also added in the occasional one-off destination such as the mountains of southern Spain and the bright lights of New York City and focussed on developing their special brand of nurturing singing experiences.
They strive to ensure every guest on their singing holidays and retreats has the best experience possible by offering a personal service and attention to detail that is second to none. Their genuine warmth, informal and friendly style welcomes you into their singing family with open arms. This is the main reason why over 80% of their clients return year after year.
Singing Holidays and Retreats vocal coach, Mike King, has worked in the music industry for over two decades, vocal coaching on The Voice UK, lecturing at Goldsmiths University of London for 12 years and directing choirs worldwide.
He has worked with various international recording artists including Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo, Mark Ronson and Florence Welch. He also founded and directs his own critically acclaimed London-based vocal group, MKC.
Mike established himself as a talented vocal arranger having been commissioned to arrange and direct performances for various clients including the BBC, Abbey Road Studios, 2012 Olympic Games and Channel 4.
Despite his professional achievements in the music industry, Mike's heart is in community singing and helping make a positive difference to people’s lives through music.
This was the main inspiration behind creating these singing experiences as they wanted to offer the unique opportunity for people to meet new friends and enjoy the wonders of singing in stunning locations.
