MIKE AND CAROL KING
Mike and Carol have been together since 2001 and happily married for over 10 years. They met singing and together have established a lifestyle and career that has music and wellness at its heart.
They created Singing Holidays and Retreats in 2009 and began running UK singing retreats in 2010.
Carol’s family are from Barbados and in 2011, after spending many wonderful holidays on the island, Mike and Carol decided to combine their love of the Caribbean with their passion for singing and create a singing holiday in Barbados - the first and only holiday of its kind in the Caribbean.
Since then they have added in the occasional one-off destination such as the mountains of southern Spain and the bright lights of New York City and focussed on developing their special brand of nurturing singing experiences.
They strive to ensure every guest on their singing holidays and retreats has the best experience possible by offering a personal service and attention to detail that is second to none. Their genuine warmth, informal and friendly style welcomes you into their singing family with open arms. This is the main reason why over 80% of their clients return year after year.
Mike has worked in the music industry for over two decades, vocal coaching on The Voice UK, lecturing at Goldsmiths University of London for 12 years and directing choirs worldwide.
He has worked with various international recording artists including Grammy winner Angelique Kidjo, Mark Ronson and Florence Welch. He also founded and directs his own critically acclaimed London-based vocal group, MKC.
Mike established himself as a talented vocal arranger having been commissioned to arrange and direct performances for various clients including the BBC, Abbey Road Studios, 2012 Olympic Games and Channel 4.
Carol is a professional singer, performing in Mike’s vocal collective, MKC, as well as a backing vocalist for the likes of Lily Allen and Boy George.
Despite their professional achievements in the music industry, both Mike and Carol’s hearts are in community singing and helping make a positive difference to people’s lives through music.
This was the main inspiration behind creating their singing experiences as they wanted to offer the unique opportunity for people to meet new friends and enjoy the wonders of singing in stunning locations.
